For so many years it haunted. And in the end, all it took was a decision. One decision.

When an old friend reappears in her life, Hollywood screenwriter Lilith is forced to confront childhood demons that threaten to destroy the world she has created to keep herself – and others – safe.

Can she trust anyone?

Can she even trust herself?

My Thoughts:

I read and reviewed Jemma's previous novel, 'To Dare', so was excited to see this one pop up.

I'll admit that for me, this was a slow burn - there's a reveal part way through and as soon as that hit, I was completely hooked. From then on, I couldn't put the book down and loved every page. There's a lot of darkness in the story - similarly to her last - and so many twists throughout that you live by the 'just one more chapter' philosophy.

From the quotes on the back of the book (above in this review) it's clear that I'm not alone in that feeling.

The other pull for me was that our main character is an unreliable narrator. This is always something I find compelling in a thriller and trust me that I wasn't disappointed. The cover alone is beautiful, but the layering and character development through the narrative was incredible. As it's only a fairly short book and a thriller, I don't want to give anything away (the blurb is deliberately cryptic) but as someone who reads a lot of thrillers, trust me when I say this one was unique and mesmerising.

I'm so pleased to be able to see how Jemma's writing style has grown from book to book, and this fills me with intrigue to see what she'll release next. Thanks so much to Legend Press for inviting me to be part of the tour and sending me a copy for review.
