New Books and Writing Update
I've realised that it's been a month since my last post, mainly because I've been busy reading and writing. I thought I'd catch you up today on sharing the awesome books I've bought and been sent as well as how my current book is coming along.
The Cornish Connection by Amanda James
Publisher: Independently published
Released: 11th May 2020

I'm trying to support as many indie authors as I can, and so I've invested in a few this month. As a general rule, if I find a book that's set in Cornwall then I'll want to read it. This one just whisks me away to the coast with that gorgeous cover, and from the blurb there seem to be mystical elements with the main character having some psychic abilities. Set in Padstow, I can't wait to read this and imagine myself in a place I know so well.
Shadow Demons (book 4) by Sarra Cannon
Publisher: Dead River Books (independent)

If you've read my blog before, you may be familiar with this author. Sarra Cannon is an incredibly successful indie author and she has a YouTube channel for fellow authors where she offers advice and courses to help share her experience of self-publishing.
Through that, I found her books. I'm not usually a fan of paranormal romance, but her characters are so fun and the plot flows in such a way that I was hooked from the first few chapters of Beautiful Demons (book one)
The first three books are free from her website (as ebooks - link above) which I have devoured over the past few months. I've now bought book 4 and I'm so excited to have so much of the series left. Sarra is working on the last few books this year (it's due to be a 12-book series) If you enjoyed The Vampire Diaries or Buffy, I highly recommend you take a chance and download the first book.
They Don't Know by Patricia Dixon
Publisher: Bloodhound Books
Released: August 2018

This author is new to me, but she has several books for me to work my way through which is exciting. I've begun with this one mainly because of the cover, and the tag line; 'a beautiful novel about the promises we make and the different kinds of love'. I enjoy a novel that follows relationships as they change over time, and I'm looking forward to reading and reviewing this.
The Heavenly Italian Ice Cream Shop by Abby Clements
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Released: 2015

When things are overwhelming, as we are all finding this year I'm sure, I like to have some calming women's fiction books on my shelf that I can reach for and escape into. When I saw this - a novel set in Sorrento on a cobbled square - I couldn't resist.
I thought I'd add in a writing update for you - I've been busily editing book 2 of the All At Sea series, and I'm aiming for it to be ready for release later this year. I've also got book 3 all planned and the writing for that will soon commence.
I'll of course keep you updated when I have more news on these, but for now ...
